Braylon Edwards

Braylon Edwards
Wide receiver Braylon Edwards announced in his Twitter account leaving the staff of the San Francisco 49ers from being unable to fully recover from the right knee injury he suffered last September.

"Today was released by the 49ers because of my injury rehabilitation requires more time and that allowed me to get fit again with the offensive team," Edwards said in a statement also on their website.

Edwards declared himself pleased with the 49ers organization for all the support they gave to overcome injury.

"I wish the 49ers organization the best of luck in the playoffs. Work hard in the offseason to strengthen my knee and get ready for the 2012 season," said Edwards.

Edwards was injured during a game against the Dallas Cowboys, on 18 September and had to undergo surgery to return to competition on October 30 against the Cleveland Browns, his exequipo, but has not fully recovered.

Wide receiver only had one catch for 9 yards in Saturday's win over the Seattle Seahawks, where he was playing his last game for the 49ers.

Edwards, 28, last August signed a one year $ 3.5 million. Played an important role in the 49ers offense with rookie head coach Jim Harbaugh.

However, he played only nine games this season and caught 15 passes for 181 yards without getting 'touchdowns.

Edwards spent his first seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Browns and won selection for the Pro Bowl in 2007 before spending two years with the New York Jets.
