Pittsburgh Steelers |
Even in the darkness kept San Francisco track.
During the Monday Night Game on 15 Round of the NFL between the 49ers and the Pittsburgh Steelers went twice the lights.
On the host sovereign 20:3 victory at Candlestick Park, however, that changed nothing.
Twice, however, fans and players were sitting in the dark. A first power outage delayed the start of the game happened about 20 minutes, one second after the second field goal by David Akers in San Francisco over 38 yards at the beginning of the second quarter.
"Not bad, but unusually"
"It was not that bad, but ungewöhhlich," 49ers quarterback Alex Smith said after the game, "Man does not believe that one has to deal with that. And then it happened twice. But it was the same for both teams ".
Good for the 49ers, a new stadium that is already in progress and soon replace Candlestick Park.
Steelers safety Ryan Clark said after the game: "San Francisco has taken a major step to show the league and the State of California that they need a new stadium."
Defensive once more the key
The key to victory in San Francisco was once again the strong defense.
For the 14th Times in a row was the team from California to no rushing touchdown and thus represented a new NFL record.
"The team has really grown together as a team," said 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh was delighted, adding: "I'm really proud of what the record is really great things.."
One factor for the poor performance of the Vice-champs, Pittsburgh was the writing of their star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
"Big Ben" is lame
"Big Ben" before the game was long doubtful, but then tormented with an injured ankle on the lawn.
Despite strong 330 yards below him were also three interceptions.
"It's very frustrating to feel that one has left his team, coaches and fans in the lurch," said Roethlisberger bent.
"Do not look for excuses"
"I do not look for excuses, that was a bad play by me," he added.
With the defeat of Pittsburgh missed it, take over first place in the AFC North of the Baltimore Ravens, and to secure the best starting position for the playoffs.
San Francisco, however, preserved his lead at the New Orleans Saints in the battle for second place in the NFC behind the already fixed as a top team Green Bay Packers.
