The band, whose early hits included "Runnin 'With the Devil" and "Dance the Night Away," was one of the major rock groups of the decades of 1970, 1980 and 1990, when Sammy Hagar replaced Roth as a singer.

Michael Anthony was the original bassist, but along with Hagar joined the band Chickenfoot. Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddie's son, took over the bass.
