Some 200 police and had resumed on Monday the search operation of the man who shot and killed a park ranger, Margaret Anderson, 34 years old.
"The body of the suspect is found Benjamin C. Barnes," said a spokesman for the Washington State Patrol, Guy Gill, through his Twitter account.
Barnes was a veteran of the Iraq war and suffered from post traumatic stress, according to Seattle Times, which linked it to another attack on Sunday morning where four people were injured.
The forest guard died after being riddled with C. Barnes attacked him in a traffic stop New Year's Day in Mount Rainier National Park.
Police searched the attacker by the snow and rugged terrain of the forest park was closed following the attack. The spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff Ed Troyer said was suspected of Benjamin Colton Barnes, a veteran of the Iraq war 24 years of age.
According to the mother of the son of Barnes, he apparently suffers from post traumatic syndrome following several rounds of duty in Iraq. Authorities found his car with weapons and a bulletproof vest, Troyer said.
Cusotodia minor dispute
Barnes was involved in a dispute over custody of her son in Tacoma in July 2011. During that time, the mother of his son's request for a protective order, according to court documents.
She said that Barnes had suicidal manifestations and possibly suffered from post-traumatic syndrome after being sent to war in Iraq in 2007-2008. Said the man is easily irritated, angry and depressed, and keeps an arsenal in his house.
