The book describes the NASA astronaut the terrible moments, as some media already reported the death of his wife. And as hope returned.
Then another shock when he saw her in the hospital in a coma, her head partly shaved and bandaged, his face blue and black. Kelly went to her, whispered how much he loved her. And that they will survive!
THE HEALING
Gabrielle Giffords fought his way back to life. But from a fast recovery could be no question. She had to learn to walk again. Giffords lost one half of their vision. She panicked when she realized she can not speak. Kelly was with her, comforted his wife, held her, helped her.
On the day when memories came back to the assassination, his wife Kelly read a newspaper article about it before. A passage about the victims, but he omitted. Giffords noticed it and urges him to say what he concealed it. When he told her of the six dead and 13 injured, she could hardly bear it.
But after six months, dared the Democratic legislators to ask for the names of the dead. Two of them had known. And died a 9-year-old girl, then as an apparently mentally ill man from a civil meeting in Tucson shooting around.
Gabrielle Giffords groaned, wept uncontrollably as Mark told her.
But Mark Kelly, commander of space shuttle Endeavour once wrote, also lighter moments, situation comedy. Sun visited the former U.S. president George Bush and his wife Barbara Gabrielle Giffords in the hospital. Only a single word she remembered: "Chicken" - chicken.

CHAPTER YOUR OWN
Gabrielle Giffords has written the final chapter in the book itself: "Gabby's voice." A site with short, simple sentences. "I'll be strong again," it says there. And: "I will come back."
